BG Roxy Concert Footage on G4!

UPDATED 7-27-08:  G4’s timeframe to run the videos expired, so the videos finally came down. Hope you enjoyed them while they lasted!

G4.com is running exclusive concert footage of the recent Music of Battlestar Galactica at the Roxy Theatre!  It features interviews with myself, singers Brendan McCreary and Raya Yarbrough, and our MC for the evening, Kandyse “Dualla” McClure.  You’ll also hear clips from our performances of Fight Night and Roslin and Adama.

If this segment gets enough clicks, they’re ready to run FULL MUSIC VIDEOS of those two songs, so pass that url to your buddies!

And check out the absolutely stunning photographs from both concerts, as well as a full band rehearsal, from the lens of Andrew Craig, who does amazing work.  These are some of the best pictures of our band ever taken:

Battlestar Galactica Concert ’08 (UPDATED)

bgroxyfluerupdated.jpg

UPDATED 03-28-08: We SOLD OUT The Roxy Theatre!  Tickets are no longer available for the April 13th Music of Battlestar Galactica concert.  However, due to the overwhelming popular demand, we have added a second performance at the venue, TUESDAY, APRIL 15TH.  Tickets are available now from Ticketmaster or directly from the Roxy Theatre.  The first concert filled up faster than I expected, so I’d suggest moving quickly if you missed out and still want to see the show.

The Tuesday night concert will be the exact same set list and performance as the Sunday night.  However, it is still too early to confirm James Callis’ availability, due to the Battlestar Galactica production schedule.  Therefore, our host is still officially “To Be Announced.”  I’ll keep the updates coming as they become available.

BG Concert Update!

I know I’ve been promising locked concert details for the better part of a year, but hang tight…  it’s all coming together and I will make a formal announcement within the next two weeks.  Expect the concert to take place in mid-April.

This year’s show will eclipse the 2006 event in every way.  We’ll have a larger band, playing music from all four seasons of Battlestar Galactica, more taikos, more strings and more soloists in the group.  We’re also producing an all-new video presentation / documentary which will premiere at the concert.  And there are some very special guests coming too.  That’s all I can say at the moment, and of course, nothing is official for another couple weeks.  But, hopefully we’ll see you there!

Johnny “Vatos” Tribute to Oingo Boingo 2007 Highlights

blogvatostitlewhite.jpg

Last October marked the third year in a row I’ve been involved with the Johnny “Vatos” Tribute to Halloween and Oingo Boingo.  I serve as music director, keyboardist and backing vocalist for the 18-piece band that includes former Boingo members John Avila, Steve Bartek, Johnny “Vatos” Hernandez and Sam “Sluggo” Phipps.  My brother, Brendan “Bt4” McCreary, fronts the group, which also boasts a 5-piece string ensemble, horn trio and two backing singers.  Together we smash through the hits of Oingo Boingo, playing selections from the band’s entire 17-year career and inflict Halloween chaos and mayhem on an unsuspecting world.

Here I am singing “Jack’s Lament” from “The Nightmare Before Christmas.”

For me, playing with these guys is not only a dream come true, but a welcome opportunity to get out of the studio and on stage in front of an audience.  Scoring three tv series is a blast, but very little compares to being in front of thousands of screaming fans.  One girl in the audience even kissed me, practically leaping on stage to do so! Rock stars might be used to this, but to composers, believe me… this is out of the ordinary!  🙂
